Locating a stepper motor...
Does anyone know where I can get a BIG stepper motor. Say, one big/strong enuf to turn the bellcrank on the side of the transmission?

How fast do you need the bellcrank? You might find one at <a href="http://www.jameco.com">Jameco</a> You might have better luck if you can find a way to use gear reduction to get the most out of the motor.
