Does anyone know how the actual hatch motor works? What are those 4 square pads and what is the device that sits on the 2 sqaure pads out of the 4 on the hatch itself for? I pulled the motor apart 3 times today and each time I flicked the black switch it either went all the way down or all the way up and that was it! Once it was at it's max either up or down you could not flick the switch becuase it was blocked by the metal tab that slides up and down and flicks the switch. The motor it self works fine it has power and moves nicely up and down. The problem is that it goes all the way to a max position either up or down and that is it.

Can some explain how the hatch motor works?

Basically my motor gets stuck at the top or at the bottom position and then does nothing.

 

Well the motor suppose to go up and stop to open and go all the way down when you close the hatch to completly close for a seal.
the pad next to it is for third brake light.
