High beam switch?

High beam switch?
When i pull the lever back for the hi beams it doesn't turn them on, almost feels like there is no resistance - no clicking - nothen. The turn signals work, the wipers work, the cruise works. I have heard that there is a metal rod that may have come loose and can be readjusted. I have also heard and read that there is a switch in there too. Has anyone messed with this that can give me some ideas?
