Crane HI-6 acting crazy
My Crane HI-6 ignition is acting crazy. I sent my old one off to be replaced after it got water in it, and they sent me a brand new onw. Since sending it off, I switched to a non-computer controled vacume advance HEI distributor. I am using an Accel Supercoil that is listed as compatible with the Crane HI-6. I installed the Crane ignition according to the instructions, and as soon as I did that, the car began to run like crap. I adjusted the timing, tried recurving the distributor, and re-checked al my connections. Everything seems to be ok. I noticed that one of the magnetic trigger wires had a nick in it, so I cut the wires back down past it and tried re-connecting it. Still would not run properly. I finally gave up and went back to the stock ignition, and the car runs like a champ now. Any ideas on why this is causing me so much trouble?
