VATS~~~!!!!
Well I found my problems... yes problems... someone ripped apart the starter enable relay.. took out all the parts and soddered a jumper wire from the large yellow wire, to the tan/wht wire (prongs)... that is why I can crank even when I have the VATS module out of the car... which isn't a problem... but I have some loose / faulty wires from the ignition lock... they are not giving me a resisance reading on the wires under the column.. so I figure for now I am going to bypass this thing until I can afford a new cyclinder lock.. now I know the resistance I need but I have a few questions as to the specifics of the proceedure.. what watteage does the .86 ohm reisitor need to be (ie: .25, .50, .75 or 1 watt?)... also I know I place one wire from the resistor on the purple/wht line and the other side on the wht/blk side.. but do I need to reconnect the harness after that?
thanks for any help...
ray
oh yeah by the way a friend told me the lock cylinder is about 50 bucks and they key is 25... is that about right?

A 0.25 watt resistor will work fine, but 0.86 ohms is way too small a value for VATS - could it be 0.86 K ohms (860 ohms) that you read?

Yea, a recent post https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/001807.html contained a link http://www.franken.de/users/dagobah/luke/vats.html listing the resistance values for the VATS.
This link is now mysteriously no longer available. Good thing I printed it out when it was active.
The closest to what you indicated (and corrected by Mr. Burgess to 0.86K) would be 887 ohms (or 0.887K).

I hope all you guys who think publicly posting VATs values get to experience the feeling of walking out to an empty parking space where you know your baby was, hopefully you loose a few hundred dollars in tools, CDs and personal items in the process. I've done it twice already so i know where i stand on this issue.
You see, you never believe it will happen to you until it does. And then you really don't expect it the second time.
