Need a recommendation for dash bulbs
The bulb behind my temperature and fuel gauges has gone out. Should I have it professionally replaced or try to get at it myself?
It's not too hard to get the guage cluster out. Take off the bezel, lense and metal guard, a couple nuts hold the cluster in, pull it out enough to squeeze the speedo cable off, and it's out. You may have to take the panel directly under the steering column off (2 screws) to see the speedo cable if you can't get the dash out far enough. I think that is pretty much it. It's not too difficult, just don't be rough with it. You have to angle it to get it out without dropping the steering column, but it isn't hard by any means.
Get a Haynes or Chilton's manual if you don't already, but I will tell you that you don't have to remove the dashpad and speaker, or drop the steering column like the Haynes manual says you do (I think I remember reading that and was like "Yeah right").
