power chips
i have an 89 gta 350 tpi stock engine but have exhaust system.i plan to get maybe a cam, headers, and an adjustaable fuel reg. which chip would give the most power . i want it to work with the stock engine now and with the future engine later. also if you can list them with their prices.

Contrary to what you hear, the prom will not really give you more power etc. A cam, headers WILL give a little more horse. In my opinion so called high performance chips are a total waste of money. All they really do is alter the power curve by modifying timing advance. Dollar for dollar you will get more improvment from the other 2 things you mentioned. The aftermarket people try to convince us that a chip will generate more horse or improve the engines performance but it just isn't so. I also ride sport bikes. They make a ton of crap for them. Jet kits for carbs, so called better exhaust etc.. Tried it all and dyno'ed them. Know what, the best overall torque curve and HP was achieved with all stock components. If you have a specific thing you want to do then a custom chip can help achieve it, but in most cases the difference will be negligable. If you add up all the money people spend trying to get more horse from a stock engine you could order an engine from GM performance and get the power you want. I have gone the route over the years, so I finally decided on a zz-4. It's all stock and it performs better that it did with a whole bunch of aftermarket crap.
