S wire on starter not getting power!!

I am not getting the impulse from the purple "S" wire that goes to the starter. If I jump "S" and live wires on the starter, the starter will turn over but when I turn the key I get nothing. Originally the S wire was hooked up to the summit remote mount selenoid but I ditched that setup. I know its not hot start because it occurs when the vehiclw is cold. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. What could be causing the S wire to not get power (any fuses??)? Is this my only problem. I am running a carburator but still have the ecm hooked up. I know its not VATS. Thanks in advance

apply 12v to the purple wire at the nss. does the starter do its thing?

if not, make sure the purple wire is connected tightly to the solenoid. look for obvious signs of corrosion or "looseness". do the same thing on the other end, at the neutral safety switch. if it doesn't start after that, run a new wire (12 gauge) from the nss to the starter.

if it does start when you put 12v to the purple wire at the NSS, your ignition is most likely at fault.

post your results.

I just got too annoyed and ran a new 12 gauge wire to underneath the column. I found a wire that gives 12v when the key is turned all the way and ran a new one. Im hooking up the starter tomorrow. It should be ok now. Also, I had a bad selenoid.
