Wiring Air/Fuel gauge problems...help!!

I finally got around to actually CONNECTING my stoichiometer...anyways...

I wired the power (ignition) wire correctly, and as for the wire that needs to connect to the O2 sensor...well, my Haynes manual wiring diagram tells me that a PURPLE wire should be my O2 wire...so I found a purple wire that was entering my computer chip..but then I found another. And 2 more purple/white wires...anyways, I connected it to one purple and it didn't work. Next purple, it SORT OF works...see, I have the Phantom Autometer electronic Air/Fuel gauge, and the lights are supposed to be bright, showing either a Lean, Stoic, or Rich mixture, and the lights dim when connected and never rise out of the lean. What's the matter!? Can anyone help?

It's not going to show anything at all until the O2 sensor heats up enough to start taking accurate readings. It'll start reading after you drive around for a bit (assuming it's hooked to the right wire).

Look at the manual and hook it to the purple wire by counting the pin connections. It should be the seventh one on the "D" row. Just match it up to the diagram.

Ah, no, my guess was wrong. I just checked and it's the 7th wire from the end of the "D" row (the larger plug).
