Brake Lights and Defroster???

Here is a good one for everyone. Lately as I have been driving, I have noticed that everytime I step on the brakes, the rear defroster goes on. I can hear the relay click and then the light goes on. I can turn it off and it will go on again as soon as I step on the brakes. If I have the car off and step on the brakes, the defroster light just stays on as long as my foot is on the brakes.

What is wrong and what should I check?

Thanks for your time.

Ahhh the very question that brought me to thirdgen three years ago!!

Q: Why does my rear defroster come on when I hit the brake pedal?

A: It's probably a loose defroster wire on the hatch. Check the connectors on both sides of the rear hatch glass to make sure they're properly connected.
(it's in the FAQ, and it's a common problem)
Welcome!

Also look for a place that it's grounding the circuit for turning on the defroster.
