Stripping 87 5.7 and want the computer for my 89 5.0 IROC, ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

It 'should' be under the dash on the pass. side. Drop the under-dash panel, then it's just behind the face of the dash.

The line is the dash face

YOU | ECM

It's 'usually' held on with velcro to the back of the face. Just give it a good "YOINK" and it should come out.

Is it worth taking Rear off car? around 130K miles on it... I have a mint body 89 IROC and jusy want to get everything I can but I need to get rid of hulk soon

the chips may be different from the 87 to the 89 so make sure they are same before plug it in or your fry your system &undo your ground before u do anything

 

Other than the cold start injector there isn't much difference between 87 to 89 as long as the memcals are for the same engine size and tranny. And you won't "fry" nothing. Both 87 and 89's use the 165 MAF ecm.

Wire harness is totally cobbled and hacked, I will take disc rear3.42 posi i think.

If the harness is toast, snip off the connectors, grab all the sensors,relays and toss em into a box. Never know when you might need to replace something and its midnight.

 

Never thought to cut off all the connectors, I did keep the injector harness, and the relays for the fans, fuel pump, etc.
