Drove over Bump, Radio Station Changed

I drove over a bump yesterday and the radio changed a few points on the dial (digital, of course), and the "fade" adjustment was being displayed, as though the radio thought I pushed the fade control button.. I reset it to the right station, and it was OK. It's a stock radio, I think. No add-ons.
Wiring coming loose ? Radio starting to wear out on me ?

Thanks, GTA88

Mine did the same thing. I had no idea what was wrong with it. Towards the end when it was getting real bad, I'd scan for a station and it wouldn't pick up anything unless you kicked it a couple of times. There had to have been a loose wire in there somewhere. I just never found it. I even had it apart a couple of times, but never saw anything out of the ordinary. I just put up with it long enough to save up for a good radio.

ATO,
Yeah, must be a loose connection, maybe inside the radio itself.

Its the Gremlins I tell you, if they dont like the music your listening to or whatever their mood is then they will mess with it or change it to something totally different.
But seriously sounds like a loose (or getting that way) soldering connection, they are really hard to spot even if you take it apart unless its so bad you see black marks from it sparking internally you may be able to see them with a good magnifying glass but if your going to bother, save yourself the hassle, and save up for a good stereo, just make sure to get an alarm or something, I put a really nice Pioneer in mine shortly after I moved here, someone else ownes it!

The Gremlins usually switch it from heavy metal to classical music. From what I hear, it's hard to find a radio that will accept the steering wheel controls, and if you did, it would be expensive, so I am probably going to have a cheapo cassette / fm stereo put in, when and if my current radio gets too hosed up. Less to worry bout ! It's the power I crave more than the sound, anyway....
