starter wiring! help me!!!

Recently I wired up a push button to start my car to by pass the chip in the key. Which was working fine for about a week or so, until the starter started to click, and then i lost all voltage. I followed the wire I made and I think it shorted out onto a ground cause it was partly burned by a header. So I rewired everything the right way, and now the starter just clicks. So I thought i had a bad starter and I had it tested and it turned out ok. So I checked my voltage going from the hot wire that goes from the battery to the starter to see if its 12 volts, turns out it is, so then I check the voltage at where the key wire goes to the starter, its 11.5. From what I hear, it needs 12 to start, and that might cause the clickn. Im thinking is it possible that I shorted out my battery? Cause after I try and start it, I lose all my power for a while. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

try jump starting it and see if that does the trick but it sounds to me that your battery went south for the winter a little early this year.

you can test a bad battery and get 12 volts, you need to test it with load. it sounds to me you just ran it down with a shorted wire. once you get the battery recharged you should wire in a 30 amp relay and fuse so it doesnt happen again
