Radio only works when I hit a bump?

Well I just bought a new Trans Am and it came with a tape player(yes this weekend it is getting switched out for a cd player).Anyway the tape player and the radio were working fine until one day it started raining. Now the tape player or the radio wont work but whenever I hit a bump it will work for about a second and then stop.I took it out and looked at the back and everything is hooked up and I have no idea what is going on.It is turned on and has power to it but it seems like it is just dead air.Anybody have any ideas?

That is a loose ground wire. Most radio's have a chart on the back for the wiring. The ground is usually the BLACK wire. Just remove the radio again and trace the wire. If it is not connected to the body's metal the radio will not work. If it is connected then you have a faulty wire internally and may need to replace the radio. I bet it is the ground. Also speakers have grounds (Plus and minus wires actually) too so check those also. My left dash speaker was not working for a long time. when I replaced my dash pad I found that the speaker wiring was loose or not grounded. Once I fixed that my radio played great.

Hey,

It wouldnt be the ground because it wouldnt turn on but just not play music. Ive seen some decks do some crazy stuff. Its just a ac delco junker. I hate those things they always break on me. The lights go and no music comes out. Anyways the problem is something interal most likely a short. Not a bad ground. If you took it out and beat it a few times it might work ( i only say this cause your probably gonna junk it anyways). Hope this helped

Well I found the problem...

One of the wires that is hooked up to the left rear speaker was touching some metal so I just pushed it off the metal and now it works fine.

Thanks for everyones help
