Whats a good 12V source?
Did 700R4 conversion with no ECM pretty straight forward. Have a external ground already. Just need a 12V source that is not a constant hot. When you turn the key that source will be hot and when its off it not hot. I tried this once before and fried some wires. I have many things not running in fuse block due to ripping out my ECM. So would any of you have a sugestion on which wire I can tap in to.
The lock up solenoid from the trans needs a good 12V source to ingage the lock up. I need something that won't be hot all the time. It needs to run when I turn the key, for the lock up to run right. I was thinking of using the old power for the trans. The purple wire going into the brake switch. That what it looks like in the diagram any ways. I'm really not sure, I have had problems in the past trying to do a wire job.
Are you sure you want it to be locked up all the time? I think most people that take out their ECM wire up a toggle switch. I'm pretty sure that lock-up was intended for extended highway use, but I suggest you do a search to make sure you want it to come on with the ignition.
This conversion came from Chevy High Performance mag. I changed out the oil pressure switch and the lock up solenoid also. In the article it says you need a second ground"Done" and a 12V power source. I already have one toggle switch for my fan as it is. From what I made of the article I just need power and the oil pressure switch would ingage the lock up. Kinda like a 400 thats what it was based off of.

The TCC lock solenoid does not use much current at all. Any switched 12 volt source should work well. You are probably using information based on GM kit #24502513. This kit allows the installation of a 700-R4 or 4L60 into a non computer controlled vehicle. I would use a voltmeter and look for a circuit in the fuse panel that runs only one thing if possible. Sometimes depending on the model there will be an empty lug or two that will have a 12 volt switched available. Heater blower motor circuit is one, it's fused high and the little current the solenoid draws should not be a problem.
