Tach Replacement

I'm currently in the process of swapping out my 2.8 for a 305 & I know I need to swap the tach for a V8 one, but will a tach from a 'bird/TA work in my Camaro? The local scrap yard has plenty of 6cyl F-Bods but only 1 V8 which is a Bird.

TIA
Don

If you wire it in, it will work. I'm not sure how it will physically fit into the Camaro cluster; also you'll have no oil pressure gauge unless you have an auxilliary one somewhere else.

Why no oil pressure gauge if I connect a 'bird's Tach? does it steal too much power from the oil pressure guage

The firebird gauge cluster, since being designed completely different, allowed for an oil pressure gauge seperate from the tach.
