Sorry I *#*&!* up.

I just put my engine back in my car and i have a dead short somewhere. If i put a volt meter on the + battery cable (not connected to battery) and the + terminal on the battery i get 12.5v (the negative terminal is connected). I also have continuity between the + battery cable (unconnected) and the - battery terminal(connected). The alternator and starter are okay and are not shorted out. All ground cables are disconnected from the engine block. Where could this short be coming from? If i have to test each wire how can i do this?

thanks
jake

sounds like my luck. I just put the motor back in and killed a new battery. Slow drain somewhere for me. I guess I get to start disconnecting things to see where it's coming from.
