is there a sending unit for the tach?
my tach went out, and i tried a differant tach and it didnt work either. is there a sending unit? if so where is it? how much do they run? and how hard is it to change?

are you talking about the stock tach or an aftermarket one.
i helped my friend install a aftermarket tach in his car, the connections were a +12volt, a ground, interior light, and a connection on the negative side on the coil. i guess inside the tach might have stuff in it.
you might need to do a search on here, i dont have any experience with the factory tachs sorry.

The factory tach gets fed from the pulse side of the ignition coil. It has it's own internal circuitry so in fact the sender or processor is internal to the tach.
