Dash Lights Blow Fuse, Where To Start

85 Camaro and the dash lights keep blowing the fuse. I had problems with the rear defogger and got it fixed but it doesn`t stay on very long. Need help where to start looking. Scull

Something is grounding out. Check the defroster circuit again. I believe it is on the accessories fuse as is the dash lights. Do they blow the fuse when you turn on the headlights? I had a chaffed wire behind my radio console that was blowing the dash lights out when it grounded to the chassis. It was a constant power wire not used on the aftermarket stereo. Lots of stuff goes into the accessories fuse. Try to isolate the problem in a systematic approach.

My 87 Bird had a wire rubbed bare on the left-most section of the dash just below the A/C vent... There are a grouping of wires that go through a metal support structure which is where it went bare... Lost my dash light fuse everytime I hit a good bump!
