Question about my new alternator

Hi, I'm new here i did buy a pontiac firebird from 1986 here in holland (EU)but my alternator was BAD !!! i went to a car-electronic shop and test it.Now i have a new one but here is the question afther 1 day driven my light go a little brighter and than my voltage gauge went up to precisly 16 volt is this BAD ?? is my regulator broken ? when i use power its between 14.5 and 16 is this oke or should i worry and lets check the new alternator too for its voltage ?? PLEASE HELP......

Yes, that's normal.. you have good power to the car, hence the brighter lights... as long as the poewr isn't spiking up into the red range your doing great.

Welcom from another Dutch F-body adept!
Alternators on our cars often go bad because of internal heat,happens to my twice!
Last year I bought a new one as well,but I ordered a cooling device for it at JC Whitney,it consists of a modified rearend for the alternator with cooling fins and a better, larger bearing.
Summit has it also,it's called Iceberg alternator conversion kit
Maybe worth a thought?
