Cig. Lighter Woes

My cigarette lighter socket works fine...it will run my vacuum cleaner and cd player, but if you stick the actual lighter in it....ZAP. Fuse blows. Actually, with the cd player and vac, if you stick it in far enough it will blow the fuse as well. So obviously the lighter doesn't help since you NEED to push it all the way in. Anyways, I took the thing apart and found a few tiny metal pieces in there, cleaned it out with a wire brush, and still blows the fuse. Any ideas? I know this topic has been addressed numerous times, but the damn thing works...just not completely...

You can get a replacement cig lighter/sockets at most autopart stores for under or around $5 usually. Save yourself the headaches and fuses and just replace it.

Yeah go pick up a new one. Should only be a few bucks. Gettin rid of it would certainly fix the problem, but sometimes those lighters can come in real handy.
