Electronic fuel pump.. 82 Camaro

I got an 82 Camaro from my bro a few weeks back and ofcourse it needs some work.

First I can say that Im not totally numb when it comes to cars and Im not a mechanic either.. just so ya know.

Body is in great shape and interior is excellent. The engine is running but it needs work.

The electronic fuel pump is making quite the humming/buzing noise.. way to loud as far as electronic pumps go. I have called around and most places are telling me that the 82 Camaro Berlinetta doesnt have an electronic fuel pump. Well that might be but mine has one.. the engine block.. where the mechanical pump should be.. seems to have never had a pump hooked up. I need to replace this pump as Im getting surging that corralates with the pump noise.

Does/did the 82 Berlinetta come with an electronic pump? If so does anyone have some sort of part number so I can get a replacment? I was thinking that this might have came with some sort of fuel injection at one time but had the engine replaced and they just used the pump that was their.

Oh.. the engine is a V6, 2 barrel carb. I know its quite a crappy motor but I wouldnt might restoring it if (The whole car) if it has the original parts.

Thanks for your time guys.. Tim.

Oh where can I find out what was in the car originally.. like when it came out of the factory??

One other detail.. the pump that is there is a Carter fuel pump.

That car had a mechanical pump from the factory but obviously someone rigged up an electric pump somewhere down the line and blocked off the fp mounting hole. Any parts store should have a replacement mechanical pump for that car. If you wish to keep the electric pump, you can probably find a universal low-pressure fuel pump at the parts store as well.
