Starts once, then won't start till I reset PCM
The engine is a '94 Camaro 3.4L w/ SFI and DIS. Complete factory harness, pcm, etc. I used a special module to bypass the '94 Camaro Pass-Key security. Used GM wiring diagrams to make use of the original harness as a standalone unit. The upside is that I am able to start the engine, and keep it running. However, here's the problems:
1) It seems to take more cranks than it should to start. This is comparing to other EFI motors. From the time that you turn the key -- it's probably a good 2 seconds worth of cranking before it starts.
2) The first time that it starts, it usually dies immediately after. Then if I crank it again, it will usually start up and stay running, but the idle is erratic at first -- then seems to clear up.
*THE BIG PROBLEM*
3) After the engine starts and stays running for a while (doesn't really matter how long) If I shut it off, it won't start up again until I manually unhook the battery, and hook it up again (effectively resetting the PCM). But, as said, if I do reset everything -- I can start back over at problem 1 and get it running again.
I'm probably going to hate electricity when I finally finish this. I don't understand how it would run in the first place if I have to reset the computer just to start it a second time. It makes no sense to me -- am I missing something?
If you have any clue -- AT ALL -- about any of this. Please let me know -- I'm stumped.

IE,
You may have at least two problems.
The starting problem may be fuel related. Is the pump running when teh ignition is turned on?
The second item may be more of a VATS issue.

I know for a fact that the fuel pump is operating because I'm manually turning it on before I try to start the vehicle. (I haven't yet wired it so it's computer controlled.)
As far as the VATS is concerned -- I'll have to look into it. But, that wouldn't explain the rough idle would it?
