New ZZ4 in 88 IROC - Electronics Problems
Guys:
I've put significant time into this exercise, I've still got a few problems; any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated:
1. The first thing I noticed after putting large runners, throttle body, and porting the plenum was that the tach didn't work. The car ran strong with no "check engine" lights. The additional hardware came about as a result of troubleshooting a missing cylinder. While I had the top end apart I decided to finish this project off.
2. Since I've done the engine switch, my XRAY scanner won't connect up. I get the message "Vehicle not responding". I've cleaned the connections and re-input the original vehicle config., ie, "GM 88 F".
I haven't set the TPS or the IAC yet. The car idles beautifully. As of yesterday (high humdiity, started raining) the engine light comes on after the car reaches temperature. It may be that the problem begins when the system tries to close the loop. I can't connect the scanner, so I can't read the codes.
My basic setup is as follows:
* GM ZZ4 crate motor
* TPIS big mouth manifold and runners.
* TPIS programmed the PROM for the ZZ4.
* Edelbrock street legal headers.
* Random technology hi-flow cat and catback
exhaust.
* BBK 58mm throttle body
Thanks,
Larry
