Will the gauges from the 92 RS work in my 89 RS?
Well, my mom's 92 got wrecked last friday. It was hit hard on the front left. The damage is extensive and I dont think it will be repairable. The rim is now at a 90 degree angle to the car, suspension got torn up. Frame appears to have been bent downward. Anyway, I'm thinking about keeping it and doing a complete interior swap from the 92 into my 89, including entire dash panel(gauges and all). I know everything will bolt on, but I am not sure about the gauges...will they work properly? I've heard something about them being different in the way that the work...I'd appreciate anyone's input...Thanks!

What motor does your car have 2.8,3.1,5.0 and does the 92 have the same motor as your 89.Every thing should work if you have sending units you will have to change them to switches.Tempature switch next to the water neck, oil pressure.I think the gas gauge will work the same. After you get all that squared away its time for the hard part the speedo. To get it to work you would have to change from a cable driven speedo to a electric with the vss.I think it would be eaiser to put the whole trans into your 89.IF I rember correctly you would have to put the 92s computer in your 89 to get the the speedo to work with the vss.But before you do this you should post a similar post in the transmission board to get the more experianced to help you.

Like it was said, the gauges will need the right sending units. The best way to double check is to go to a parts store and tell them to look up the sending units for an 89 and a 92 camaro. I'm sure the fuel level will work. The only year it was different was in the berlinettas. As for the tranny, I'm not positive but if you don't have a vss, you can just swap one on. It bolts right onto the end of the yoke where the cable driven unit is. Just grab it from any 91-92 camaro or any car that has electronic speedo. Post on the tranny board to be sure.
