Hi all,
I had my 700R4 swapped to a TH350 a while back and I have been driving without a speedo since. Well, it's inspection time and I need to get it to work now. I was told that I need to swap the tail housing off my current tranny to get it to work. Is there any easier way? The tail housing is a tough job, is it not?
Any replys would be greatly appreciated.

If you had your 700R4 swapped out for a 350 turbo then the driveshaft was also changed because the TH350 is a shorter tranny than the 700R4... so you're just looking for trouble switching the tail housing. If you had an electric speedo then whoever did your tranny swap should have put the electric VSS from the 700R4 in the tail housing of the TH350 and then the wire that was plugged into the 700R4 just plugs back into it. The VSS IS interchnageable from the 700R4 to the TH350.

 

How do you figure the VSS from a 700 can be put on a 350?

 

Actually... I retract that statement. I just thought about it and realized that when I switched to my TH350, it had an adapter and spacer kit installed to mount the 700R4 tail housing to the TH350 and use my stock driveshaft. My bad.

I logged into the Summit site and found a 16 pulse hall effect sender that is supposed to convert a mechanical sender to electronic - supposed to fit all Autometer speedos. If I pick this up, plug it into my tranny, how do I wire it so I can plug in my stock Speedo? The connections are different. Any help would be great. Thank you all
