I have an 87 Formula 350 and my cooling fans will not come on. I just recently purchased the car and it already had this problem. While installing a new radiator today, I checked both fans and they are fine, so what can it be?
Also, I don't know if this might have something to do with it, but the guy had a chip put in. I do not know if he put a 160 degree thermo in along woth the chip or if the chip calls for one. Could this have something to do with it?

The chip will change the temperature the fans come on depending on the chip. Remove the ground wire from the temperature sensor on the block and ground it to the frame with the ignition on. Car doesn't have to be running. That will tell you if the relay is good or bad. On-good, not working-bad. Could be the sensor is bad, but they are pretty robust unless physically damaged. I think I have a similar problem because my fan turn off at certain temperature but is not always on above that and my car overheat because of this (only with the engine runing and parked)

I dont know If I have an electrical problem related to the alternator swap I made in December, later the fuel pump relay stop working (I disasmble it and look at it and it dont gridge the conection) a week and half afther that and with a new relay the fuel pump stop working again, Im driving now with a bridge between the terminals and has to take it every time I turn off the car.

The alternator was from another GM vehicle (a buick century not the late model).

How can I know for shure if this alternator is sending to much or to little current to my electrical system? With the car runing I get almost 14volts on the dash with the old alternator it never was above 13volts. Could this be damaging my relays?

If I have to change my alternator wich one is good?

I have not instaled anything but a receiver with CD-MP3 player and a pair of Keenwoods 7x9 (a little larger than the stock ones) but in the future I want to intall an amp for those two + a subwoofer nothing more. How much amps would be enought?

My car is a Camaro 92 RS LO3 (TBI), 95amps? 100? 105?
