Remote hatch release, which wires go where?
I am trying to put my 87 camaro back together, and I am not sure which wires go where. I have the remote hatch switch and it has 2 wires that are supposed to plug into it. I also have a 3rd wire with the same kind of connectors as the hatch release switch uses that plugs into the E-brake assembley.
Which wires go where? I have tried every combination and still it doesn't work. If somebody can explain how this circuit works as well that would be really helpful too. The car was originally an auto and I swaped in a 5 speed, so at the present time I am jumping the purple and yellow wires that go to the shifter so I can start the car, but with that jumper in place everytime I hit the hatch release switch the car turns over. Anyway I could use a little help here.
Thanks

That purple wire was connected to the NSS (Neutral Satety Switch) when your car was an automaitc. You need to lengthen hat wire about 18" and hook it up to the switch on the clutch. It is a safety feature. You'll then have to press the clutch too start the car. This is done to make sure your car isn't in gear when it is started. Do yourself a favor and buy a HELMS manual for the car. It will explain the wiring. They are fairly cheap ot pick up on eBay.
