serious headlight problem ( HELP!! )
O.K. I got in my car to go to work this morning and had no headlight at all, they worked fine yesterday but today when I turned on the headlights, the brights indicater was on and won't go off enless i turn off the lights completlly. When I click the brights lever it feels and sounds like its working but has no effect on the nonexistant lights at all.
Now some of you may know that the driving lights on the T/As go off when you turn on the brights so they wouldn't work eather, enless I only turned on the parking lights. It's like the brights are stuck on, but ,,,there not on.
But anyway,Any ideas on what I should do,,I'm going to make this my Sat. morning project.Anyone else had the same prob. ?

I will bet it is just the earth connection at the headlights.
The power from the headlight main or low beam cannot go to ground, so whichever you select the power has to find another way home.
Look at the wiring diagram. The power from either high or low can go through either of the bulbs to earth. If it can't get to earth that way it there are two things that happen, depending on high or low beam selected.
High beam, the brights indicator comes on anyway, and you have no headlights.
Low beam, the power goes to the low beam bulb, to the earth wire, but can't get to ground, so it goes into the high beam bulb - they are connected on the earth side. It then runs back up the high beam supply into the high beam bright indicator bulb and then to earth.
The electricity is happy - it got home and it confused the driver. The resistance of the circuit is too much to let the headlights come on, but not too much to let the bright indicator light up.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply,,,I also was thinking ground but was hoping someone would have had the same problem and would be able to tell me where to start,,the switch,,brights lever or the lights,,
I would start at the ground always not only because that is the most likely problem for the symptoms, but also that is the cheapest thing to fix, and if it is not earthing you can spend a fortune on parts and it still won't help. Did you find the problem?
