how hard (fire damaged car)

my friend is trying to sell me his 86 iroc that had some fire damage, mostly interior, the computer is probably fried, i'll see the car friday, but.....

how hard is it to swap out the computer? I don't care if the car doesn't have interior, but I want it road legal, so i need turn signals and stuff, what about swaping that out?

hmmm that would depend on the nature and extent of the fire....like if it was an electrical fire that torched the dash or if it was like a cigarette lit the seats on fire or something.

just swapping a computer module isnt hard at all, just unplug the old one, plug in the new one...if you have to start replacing wiring harnesses it will be time consuming and at times difficult and frustrating.

Really need to know the extent of the damage...take some pix if you can and you'll get better guestimates

whoa, fire damage. Like mokey says it depends on the damage, but fire damage cant be good. if he was giving it to you for practically nothing, take it, but itll problay only give you problems and a headache.

If an 86 has been burnt and is not running I wouldn't take it unless paid to. You cannot know what has been messed up. There is no shortage of good ones around.
