transam headlights

ok, usually, if i trun my headlights on, even with the engine off, they popup. now after letting it sit for awhile, they wont pop up unless the engine is on. afterwards, they popup fine, even when the engine is dead, it only happens after i havnt used them in a while, anyone know whats goin on?

The problem is the 3 gel inserts inside the large nylon gear that raises the headlight have gone bad. You need a headlight repair kit. I manufacture two versions which are on my web site. This kit only repairs the 1987-1992 units. The 1982-86 have a different headlight unit using 2 smaller gears.

oh man, I thougt I was the only one with this problem, one side works, the other doesn't. Switching the "bad" stuff to the "good" side makes it work, and switching the "good" stuff to the "bad" side makes it not work. Is tehre some computer that controls these things?
