vss question

I got a 91 z28. Does the vss send a signal to the ecm and the ecm send a signal to the speedometer or does the vss just send stright to the speedometer?

I'm not sure on a '91, but on earlier models the VSS signal is split at a buffer module attached to the back of the speedo.

Yes, that is the way it works.
If it is a TPI car it works that way.
The TBI cars had the VSS Buffer seperate from the ECM.
