Changing Dash Lights

I am going to replace the dash lights and see if that is what is wrong with my lights at night. The gauges functionf ully. How do I change the little bulbs? Where are the 2 bolts to drop the steering column? From what I can find...drop the column, undo the front thign, undo the cluster and there they are. Another question, you know how you turn on the lgihts? pull that **** out? How do you take that **** off?

You shouldn't need to drop the steering column. If you remove about a half-dozen screws from the dash pad, it will lift off and expose most of the lamps in the instrument cluster - most of them.

I just did as you said and saw NO bulbs. Mine is a 1990. I am guessing that is different from your model. It seems like someone was telling me you have to lower the steering column then it will pop our or something. I don't remember exactly. GIVE MORE DETAILS SOMEOBYD!

you need to remove the cluster to replace the bulbs... drop the dash cover, you'll see the steering column bolts. lower the column. you'll see a couple of 7mm screws on either side of the column on the dash trim piece, gotta remove those and pop the dash trim piece off, remove the harnesses on the switches, lighter, etc. once you get that off, you'll see the 7mm screws holding the lense and cluster in place. the cluster will pull straight out. on the back of it are 4 bulbs that are integrated into the little holders. that's the way they come. just replace those and you're in business... it's been a long time since i've done mine, so i mighta' missed a thing or two, but hopefully not... when you pull the cluster, there is no speedo cable, it's electronic and everything just separates, so you won't have to worry about messing things up... good time to change the color if you want. that's why i pulled mine to begin with...

Sorry if I mislead you. When teh dash pad is off my '86, I can see most of the twist sockets for the dash and indicator lamps, but some are obscured by the cluster support frame.
