volts drop with the brakes...
Whenever I hit my brake pedal my voltage immediately drops to about 9-10 volts. It does not matter how fast the engine is spinning the alternator it drops to 10 volts. Now my third brake light is broken and disconnected. I have the connectors covered with electrical tape so I don't think it is grounding out. What could be the problem?
Thanks,
Brady

If there was a short to ground, you'd be blowing fuses every time your brakes come on. Have you verified that your voltage guage is measuring correctly? Using a DMM(if one is available), with the ignition on, but the car not running, does the voltage drop to the same level when the brakes are applied? How about with the ignition off? Have you blown any fuses lately?
