Adding Traction controll/abs?
Since I hear alot of people complaining about the thirdgens not having these features I was wondering how hard it would be to add it to them, and how much?

I think that it would be very exspensive. First off for ABS, you would have to add sensors to each wheel, a computer of some sort to detect a lock up from the sensors, and some way of individually applying and releasing the brakes on each wheel to keep the wheels from locking up. I'm not sure about traction control, but I think that you would need sensors to detect the wheels spinning, a computer, and someway for the computer to restrict the throttle, to reduce the wheelspin. So IMO, I think it would not be worth it to install them. Also, if your a good driver you probably wouldn't even need them

Re: Adding Traction controll/abs?
The main problem is how to find front ABS sensors. I'm going to instal into my 92' Firebird ABS and traction control - I have only one probem - front sensors. All parts (rear sensor, wiring, computer, ABS pump etc.) without front abs sensors fits from IV-gen fbody.

Re: Adding Traction controll/abs?
traction control BAH!!!!
i had this trashstang allways tring to race me, and id always walk him well one rainy day he pull up next to me and starts reving, and of couse his traction control left me sitting at the light doing 80MPH and not moving a single inch.....im glad i had the open diff back then, id been side to side if i had my LSD back then
anyway ITS NOT WORTH DOING!!!! it would be way to hard and to much involved, true traction control is in the seat of the driver.....IMO traction control and ABS was made for the non driving SUV soccer moms

Re: Adding Traction controll/abs?
Megasquirt has an acceleration based traction control, you set the maximum rate the rpms can rise in first gear. If the rpms climb faster than that the tires must be spinning, so it pulls timing. It doesn't really help if it's wet or snowy though...
