Where does the wire to the gas gauge come from, and go to?

Hi I need some help finding the wire that goes to the gas gauge. My gauge reads full all the time. I know it's not the sending unit, because I unpluged it,and it still read full. So I think there might be a short in the wire somewhere. Could someone please help me.

Sounds more like a bad ground.
Also does the gauge drop down when you shut off the car?
It could be a bad gauge.
I'm not sure where the ground for this is, but I would start checking your grounds first.

No when I shut the car off the gauge stays on full. I also put in another gauge to see if that was the problem, but it still read full. I really have no idea where to take it from there. Thanks for the help. If you think of something let me know.

I just read in another post that the wire that goes to the gas gauge is purple.
Check the resistence with an ohm meter.
About 90 ohms should be a full tank of gas.
If it's more than that then you must be grounding out somewhere.
If it's les, then you may have gotten stuck with a bad replacement gauge.
Check it and post an update, I'm sure someone around here can help you figure this out.
