Dome light and center console storage bin light stopped working

I dont know what happened, but now my dome light and the light inside my center console bin no longer work. every other light appears fine. i had taken apart my center console for some cleaning, took off the cover over the shifter. while inside there i noticed some sparks when i moved my shifter to different positions. after looking around i found a stray 12v wire that was hooked up to the cig lighter 12v line. im not sure if i ripped it out of somewhere or was loose to begin with. it looks like something a previous owner wired up. that is the only thing i can think of that would have made my dome and bin light stop working. the light that goes inside the shifter display still works as does all the gauges. are there any wires inside the center console that would effect these two lights? i removed the entire center console and didnt find any wires where the 12v would hook up. my dimmer switch still dims the lights. but shouldnt the bin light be on always? regardless of the key position and whether or not the lights are on?

thanks for any help.

oh and no i havent checked the obvious yet, dunno if the bulbs are dead. but that would be kind of ironic they'd both die at the same time. i did get a pretty good spark with that 12v wire that was loose in the console, maybe that could have burned those bulbs?

Check your cigarette lighter/acc fuse. Generally the interior lights and the cigarette lighter run off the same fuse.

that could very well be it since the stray 12v wire was spliced into the cig lighter. the fuse would be in the fuse box under the driver side dash right?

thanks ill check that out.
