not ignition switch, not starter, but odd wiring probs

ok, let me lay this whole deal out on the line.
-car wouldnt start.
-changed the starter.
-still wouldnt start, changed the ignition switch.
-STILL wouldnt start.
-took a test light to the plug going into the neeutral safetym switch, and found some interesting things:
--blue wire, third from bottom: hot all the time, its all good.
--green wire w/ white stripe on top: oddly enough, starts out i
--believe on the ignition switch as a yellow wire. should have 12
--volts when you turn the key, but nothing.
--purple wire, second from top: no voltage at all, but when
--hardwire from the blue hot wire to this wire, car starts for about 5 seconds then dies.

all in all:WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!

you have to take off the dash parts underneath the steering wheel, and you will see two bolts holding on an arm bracing the steering column. take off those two bolts, and the steering column will drop down. look on the top of the steering column. you will see two rods. the one more towards the top will be going to a switch located on the top of the column, near the firewall.. there is a plug on the right, the rod going into the front, and a thick rod going into the back. this is the ignition switch.

PS. after changing the starter, the ignition switch, spending $60 on parts, and the car being down for a week, i fixed it by wiring in a 20 cent resistor to bypass the VATS, taking a total of 10 minutes

So should the ignition wire that's yellow be at full voltage??

Mine's VERY low, so is this the problem and will a new switch solve it??

So to hi-jack the thread, but we have the same problem and since you have a new one, i figure the yellow wire should be at full voltage??

I'm having the same problem with my '91 Camaro. I don't know where to put the resistor in to get it working though. Could you help me out? Thanks.
