fuel pump problem
when the car is cold there is no problem, but after it has ran a while when i shut it off and go to restart it the pump comes on but does not prime up the system. i have a fuel pressure guage and it only gets 20 psi. if i bump the key 1 or 2 times the pump turns back on and i get 42 psi and it starts no problem. i have change the filter and no change. p.s. the car is my 87 tpi 305,thank you for any help

This sounds like a textbook example of your fuel pump on its deathbed. I had the same problem in my 1989 GTA, changed it with a new only to find that the new one was bad also. If you have never seen the fuel tank on a thirdgen, be prepared for a good days work. They are a pain to get out.
