Post Cool Stuff Here

Hey Guys. My car got stollen and torched last week... I had some pretty cool electronics setups in it. I installed a CB Radio w/PA speaker and mounted the PA on the overhead center console in my trans am, and wired the Map light button to turn the radio on and off. I also had my radar detector wired behind he dash so you couldn't see it.

Im looking for a new trans am to replace my old one, but in the meantime, i'd like to see some pics of cool electronics you guys have put in your cars. It could be fun.

thanks.

Torched? Ouch. No cool electronics to show off, but I am thinking about a set of Highbeams mounted in the backup lights, and wired to a switch. That will solve the problem with tailgaters!

Ouch thats awful Something neat would be to have the switch for the map light to cut off your iginiton to stop car thieves. Something I've noticed is how you can see down the defrost vents on the dash I think it would look cool ot mount it in there facing up where you could see the face of the detector and any info it shows while it goes off. Do you know who stole your car and torched it?

Thanks for the sympathy. Click on the picture of my car in the signature to go see the post with the pictures if you want.

I'm waiting to see what will happen with insurance, i didn't have theft, i'm depending on home owners & the stuff that was inside the car to fund my next ride... will be another t/a.

I don't know how hard you looked at the pictures, but there's nothing there worth buying back... or even taking a sous-venir from. there's nothing left.

I swear to gad i'm doing that in my next ride... i like it, they'd never think of it. I was planning on a kill switch anyways. Only problem is when some dode friend of mine trys to turn the dome light on while on the highway... perhaps this isn't the best idea, haha.
I'm supposed to be getting a call back from the poe leece today to find out where they're at in case progress. I've heard through the grapevine that they tried to pull my car over and they ran & then burnt it... but i would be surprised if they could evade cops in FL... all these grid-style roads, u kno? I also heard from the folks at the junkyard that they had a team of guys out there the other day going over my car.. (i don't know what the hel they were looking for... click the signature pic and look @ the burnt pics...)

Haha! I love it. That would go great with a dual-speaker PA w/3-way toggle switch, one for forward, one for back and one for both.

No pics of anything out of the ordinary? I can't believe it...

Yup,

Here in Italy they like to mail you tickets insted of chasing you, hell like there car's could keep up. I saw a Bike with a flip down plate and tought why not do it on mine? Hit the button and no more plate you see a cop? push the button and your just a regular guy doing the speed limit.

sorry to hear about your car. That is terriable i seriously think i would cry if someone did that to my car...i would be depressed for days. One thing i though about for theft deterrent is if you have an electric fuel pump can't you just take out the fuse and the pump will not work? just a though

It's even easier as a detterent to wire in a kill switch on the coil wire. As long as they don't find the switch, there's no way that car is going anywhere unless its downhill or via tow truck. I plan to add this in to my next vehicle.

i acutually wired a momentary switch that i have to press to start the car. it is where the dead pedal is behind the carpet. i have to push it with my foot and turn the key. the switch is hooked into the ignition wires of the car.

Thats a cool idea, I saw this on a hot rod at last years rod run. The only bad thing is that is highly illegal to have it on your car here. On a camaro its a reall easy project, you just need an acutator and a small metal rod attached to the back of liscens plate.

The liscense plate idea is choice. Here's my version (not attempted, yet):

-Reverse the spring back there that holds it shut to hold it down.
-Route an old pull style choke cable from way under the dash to the rear of the car to hold it closed against the spring.

Set up like this it could be folded down very quickly, which could pay off in certain situations. Another similar idea I had was to wire a switch to all the lights on the rear of the car. This would be money for a night time fuzz chase!

As far as pimp electronics go, I have always been jelous of the LT1 guys with the scanmaster display on their dash. I've always wondered how hard it would be to wire a lighted LCD display and a nice switch from under the center vents to a hidden scan tool behind the dash. Of course the new G-tech would be a nice addition to this readout also.

Sorry about the car TransAm, seeing those pics almost brought a tear to my eye.
