Hooking up tach

Wondering how to hook up a tachometer without already having the wires for one....its an 87 2.8 firebird...and has no tach already and i was wondering what it would hook up to. thx

Transmission: 4L60E
I think that uses the same type of coil as the V8, you need to set the tach(cut wire, switch ect.,) for a 6 cyl(in tach instructions), run the wire for the engine to the white wire coming off the grey connector on the coil

after that , there are 3 other wires(not sure on colors), ground, key on power and dash lights(for this I tap the dash lights fuse, all I've done this on dim the tach light same as factory gauges)
