Ok im in the process of trying to go from a 2.8 to 350 w/out CC. I have all the hot wires run to the starter and tryed to turn over with key but nothing, so i figured id try to jump the sylenoid, and it worked? am i leaving something out?? please respond

I just did the same thing and forgot to have the shifter hooked up. The shifter has to be in nuetral or park in order for the starter soilinoid to get juice.

hmm because shifter is hooked up, like the cables are there and the plug that plugs in the front of it,

anyone else?

 

First check to see if the soilinoid is getting juice with the key in the crank position. If it is, it is a bad soliniod, if not check simple things first like if it is a fuse or bad connection. Do you have fuel injection or did you? What year is the car. If you had or have vats then you need to bypass it. I suppose the ignition switch on the steering column could also go bad so check it. Give us some more feed back and we can help you further.

i dont have vats, its an 88.. the switch in the column worked fine when i tore into the car (end of december '02). ill go test for juice later.
