ok 1985 2.8 manual camaro

i was parking my car in the garage and stalled it in reverse, i went to start it and i got the wonderfully scratching sound of my starter, so i replaced the solinoid in hopes of fixing it. I wired the starter properly, and it now cranks the engine just fine to about 500rpm.

Now it will crank fine but it wont fire, ive recently replaced the battery cables, I get a good ground connection everywhere that makes sense to check, got a spark too.


right now the car's in a heated garage with the block heater on, and a full tank of gas, new battery, and liquids fine.

any help would be appreciated

 

is it carbuerated or injected? if it is carbuerated (or maybe even if it's injected) it could be flooded, you might want to take it the spark plugs and clean them or just put in new ones, but those spark plugs sure are a PITA to get to. my camaro did that once and that fixed it, mine is carbuerated and i don't know if that makes a difference. good luck.

 

did you check to see if you are getting spark to the plugs?could you start you car in gear previously? with out the clutch depressed? i think now dont quote me on this but the fuse in question might be the neutral saftey just throwing suggetions out there

 

I could start that car in any gear, and im getting spark, injectors are fine. (its MPFI)

I'm gonna test the neutral switch today, if that doesn't work, im gonna inspect the fuel pump itself. Also im gonna see if the ECM could possibly be responible. The previous owner was a speaker monkey and the fuse box is a mess, so it could be anything.
