VATS nightmares
anybody have any info on how to bypass the VATS in a 92 Z28. I think this is what is keeping my car from starting. Ive exhausted all other means in trying to get this thing to start. Thank for the help

Check the SECURITY light on the dash. It should go out after about 2 seconds if VATS is working properly. I don't have any info on disabling it. I repaired mine when it malfunctioned.

VATS is not a simple logic level that changes when the proper PASS key is used. The VATS module controls the starter enable relay and provides an oscillating signal to the ECM. I believe it's around 50-60hz square wave at 5v.

You can measure the resistance across the chip in the key and solder a resistor in the wire taht sends the signal back to the vats module. I have done this on Cadillacs and it is basically the same system. The key to it is getting the resistancew to be the exact value.
