Guage fuse keeps blowing! Help!

The fuse to my guages keeps blowing! I don't know why. I'll put a new one in and within a matter of seconds, it blows. It's an 88 GTA. If the headlights are on, it makes that dinging noise like you forgot to turn them off after shutting the car off. This all started tonight when I was about 20 miles from home. So, all the way home I listened to "ding ding ding ding ding....." and so forth. Also, I got trouble code 24 which is the vehicle speed sensor. I have a feeling it came on because the speedometer quit working when the guage fuse blew. Also, my aftermarket radio shuts off and comes back on sometimes when I hit bumps. Don't know if it's related or not. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! Matt

Nevermind. Fixed it. The EGR wires were shorting out. EGR causes the guage fuse to blow. Go figure! Matt

Its the connector on the EGR solinoid. Right hand side of the engine in the back corner of the intake manifold, can't miss it, it has 2 hard plastic vacuum lines coming from it too

Also, on my car, it's exactly where Morley said it was, but it's kind of hard to see if you don't know what you're looking for. It's under the ignition coil, and bolted onto the same bracket as the ignition coil. Let us know if this fixes your problem! Matt

hmmm, no that didnt seem to work. i looked at every loose wire i saw (im just finishing a 350 swap) and none were grounding that i could see. are there any other things that could cause this to blow?

There's a whole list of things that could cause this. I had them written down somewhere, but I can't find the list now. Must have thrown it out. What I did, was a search for "guage fuse". About 50 threads came up and I got a lot of ideas that way. There's several things that can cause this fuse to blow. Matt
