Anyone ever figure out tach jumping problem?

Anyone ever figure out tach jumping problem?

I have searched the archives and haven't really come up w/ an answer. Tach that just pegs when started. Fuses are good. Let me know if you know how to fix.

Guy's.........I had the same problem with my 92 Bird.......the tach would jump around after getting over 2000 rpm,s......I changed the ICM = ignition contol module ....in the distributor and the problem went away..........that might be a good place for you to start........good luck.......

I had the same problem, replaced the module, and it seemed to help. I always thought that it might have something to do with the capacitor located on the firewall right behind the dist. I was thinking that the signal was too strong for the tach right off the coil, so a capacitor or something that would reduce the signal in strength but not in quantity would help to even out the tach. Just an idea...
