I just installed a k&n today with the intake tubing leading down in front of the engine block. my question is: on the old air box (the canister that houses the old filter) there is a bundle of wires that clip into the canister. what is this? and do i have to somehow connect it to my new setup?

 

The thing your wires go to is most likely an air temp sensor. I have a 92 TBI setup and took mine out (the sensor) when I installed an open element air cleaner. It set my check engine lite for a little while (but later went out) but I didn't notice any rough idle or less performance. I would say forget it. It's just another polution device that really doesn't do ****
