i have an 89 firebird with that vats system, i bought a remote starter, and ive read that you have to bypass that system in order for it to work, i have taken the keyswitch out of the column and turned it to the on postion, i put a regular key switch in the column so i dont have to fool with that annoying key crap, i was wodering if you can still hook it up with out the exrtra crap you have to hook up to bypass the vats, its always turned on and the car now starts with a regular key and switch, so should i still have to by pass this or not

If your thirdgen's engine starts with a regular 99cent walmart key, then you do not need a vats bypass box for the remote start install.

i have tried that and i still cant get the thing to work, i use the color code chart at that link, and i still doesnt work, i hooked it up excatly as it said, and the control module for the remote starter jsut clicks like a turn signal everytime i press a button, i think ill just take it back, and find something to just unlock and lock my doors, thats the whole reason i really bought the thing, and i thought it would be handy to have a remote starter, but i just cant figure it out, and i cant afford a techy to hook it up for me, but thanks for the help.
