Brain dead?
Hello F body enthusiasts. I'm new to Third Gen, and I have enjoyed everything I have seen thus far.
My problem is this: I recently purchased an 305 V8 84' Camaro, RS which was solid outside, but didn't run. After an entire motor swap, we went to turn her over. She would try and try to start, bog, and sound like she was running, but after releasing the keys, she would stop. On a whim, we pulled the fuse, a good one, that connected to the brain. After a little more protest, she ran well, save the timing which needed to be reset. Does she need a new brain, or is this something else entirely?
Thanks for reading my post.

Still a problem
We fixed the timing on my baby. She still bogs out if we put the fuse in for the ECM. Is it a bad ECM? I'm neither a mechanic nor an electrician, so I don't have the technical knowledge to describe it better. Sorry. I'm still learning, and that's why I'm here. I love my Camaro and I want the best for her, now that she is with me. Supreme Member

Welcome. More info is always helpful. What setup was originally in the car-motor, fuel delivery type, etc. Is everything the same as the old engine. Sounds like something is different between the two. ECM's are in fact very reliable. Probably about half of them are misdiagnosed. Generally they won't run without the ECM being powered up. Only thing without knowing more is to check fuel pressure, but it make no sense as to the fuse issue.
