Prom Questions
Does the Prom Control the Shift points in a car? I know it controls the fuel/air mixture and the spark timing, but I'm not sure about the Shift points.
Basically my transmission is acting like crap, and the dealer near me who I have a 3 year warranty on the tranny says that because I switched the prom (305-350) the transmission shift points are messed up and there is possibly nothing they can do.. The only thing is the car has been acting fine for quite some time with that prom in it and only recently has the transmission been acting up.
Any advice??

The shift point is controlled by the governor and the TV valve. the TV cable is adjustable and is usually located at the throttle body. It has what looks like a plastic button, to adjust it push the button in and push the cable housing all the way towards the rear. Then with the car off push the gas pedal all the way to the floor, the cable will self ratchet and adjust itself. A common problem also with the 700R-4 is the governor gear getting worn. Either way your PROM will not affect it. The newer 4L60E boxes use the PCM for control of shift points and line pressure but you don't have one unless the car has been modified somehow.

Thanks a ton.. The Dealer who warrantied my 700R4 when they replaced it said my prom controlled it and I was fairly certain they were wrong.. Just checking.. Now I get to spit it back in their faces!
Thanks again!
